Title: Coalition Coordinator
Location: Indianapolis IN
Summary of Organization: The Marion County Youth Violence Prevention Coalition (MCYVPC) represents organizations with a shared interest in preventing youth violence in Indianapolis. The Coalition's mission is to convene community stakeholders, conduct research, provide leadership, and empower people to create opportunities that build more peaceful homes, schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces.
Position Summary: The MCYVPC Coalition Coordinator is a full-time, grant-funded position working directly with the Coalition Steering Committee and Task Forces to implement the Coalition’s Strategic Plan. This person will be responsible for all Coalition activities and outcomes, grant reporting, and sustainability planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate meetings for the Coalition, collaborating with Steering Committee and Task Force Leaders to develop agendas, share meeting resources, and communicate meeting outcomes with Coalition members and community partners.
- Establish consistent communications for the Coalition, including website updates, social media management, and email newsletters.
- Provide support and technical assistance to Coalition Task Forces to successfully implement projects and initiatives aligned with the Strategic Plan of the Coalition.
- Evaluate and monitor progress on Strategic Plan activities and goals and report outcomes to Coalition members, community partners, and funders.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities to support coalition projects and initiatives.
- Manage grant funding and reporting for Coalition activities, including expense tracking, fiscal reporting, progress reports, and appropriate documentation.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with Marion County agencies and organizations working on youth violence prevention.
- Advocate for policies and practices that align with the coalition’s goals.
- Promote the coalition’s mission and activities through public outreach and engagement, representing the coalition at community events, meetings, and other forums.
- Develop educational materials and resources to disseminate to the community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, community development, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in coalition building, community organizing, or program management.
- Demonstrated ability to balance multiple projects and work independently.
- Strong commitment to youth violence prevention.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to cultivate new and existing relationships with key stakeholders in community organizations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Experience with grant writing and fundraising preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail and Google software platforms, and other relevant software.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with occasional evening and weekend hours required.
- Travel within the community and to various meetings and events as needed.
Compensation: $47,500 - $52,000, based on experience, and a wide array of benefits including:
